Determining the effective properties of heterogeneous materials with complex microstructures requires advanced computational methods. This course introduces numerical discretization and solution techniques for computational homogenization based on the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). These methods make it possible to efficiently handle industrial-scale microstructures and nonlinear mechanical material behavior.

In the accompanying exercise sessions, participants will implement a prototype FFT-based micromechanics solver.

Lectures will take place every Thursday from 09:00-10:30, in V15 S04 C42, starting on 15 October 2026. The exercises will then be held from 10:30-12:00, in the same room.
